The best design work I've ever shipped came from people I helped grow — not from my own hands. A leader's most important design decision is the culture they build around them.
Taste is trained, not given
Anyone can design today. Claude Code and Figma Make democratised execution. What separates a great designer from the rest is a trained eye — built through education, exposure, and relentless critical judgment.
Design scales when people do
At Gainsight, a team I built took the company from $20M to $100M. At ServiceNow, the same principle scaled a new business unit to $100M in four years. The product grew because the people grew first.
The standard I hold
Sir Isambard Kingdom Brunel
1806 – 1859

In one lifetime, Brunel built the Thames Tunnel, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, and the SS Great Western — the ship that crossed the Atlantic in record time. He didn't ask whether something was possible. He asked what it would take. That's the standard I hold for bold design.
